  1. Oh gosh yes…why do they just appear out of no where when you least want them?! I guess one never wants dead legs but there are times when they’d be less inconvenient but they don’t usually appear then. The pacing thing is the hardest part for me as I just have no sense of how fast or slow I’m running. Sticking to others who are competent at pacing things sounds like a good strategy!

  2. Oh Friday, Friday. My long run that became not such a long run / a walk and run fiesta. My legs and tummy were just not feeling the miles so I ran as far as I could and walked the rest of the way. Oh well.
There are those unexpectedly golden runs though that happen when I think I’m only going to go for an easy or short run after work and then end up blowing it out of the water and rocking my workout. Those are the smiles that are worth those occasional painful miles.

    • oh no…i kno tummy issues all too well!! they are sometimes worse than the dead legs…and u poor thing had BOTH!!! but it sure does make u really appreciate those golden runs. 🙂

  3. Great and funny post. It feels so random why some runs my legs feel fresh and others dead. And you have to run with the legs you have. Cool milk carton picture! and ideas for dealing with issues on the fly. You’re right on the surge. Sometimes it wakens them up. And sometimes my legs don’t feel right until 45 minutes in, and things get easier.
