About Me

Most people call me Cait. Yes, I am one of those people who actually LIKE to run…scratch that I’m a total runner nerd and love it. There was a point where it was iffy whether or not I’d ever be able to just walk normal again, let alone run, so today I’m SO grateful for every step I take. Enough on all that, you can read more here if you wish.

I also love to write, draw, and create. I’m the person who was constantly doodling during school and I always have to be doing something with my hands. I just finished a novel, TABLE TALK – CONFESSIONS OF AN EAVESDROPPER, and am working on a few others. Writing is the fun part, it’s the going back and editing that is a bit of a bore but a necessary evil. I also do freelance writing and because I could talk your ear off about all things fitness, my friend and I have a blog and website all about that.

ART! Okay, I usually stick to drawing. I’ve done a bit of painting but I just don’t feel like I’ve got the same kind of control with a brush that I do with a pen. I don’t like that…I’m a bit of a control freak. Because EVERYTHING now is going techno I’ve recently become familiar with the computer programs and am getting familiar with all that. I still like to ink my drawings but, not gonna lie, when it comes to backgrounds and colorizing, the computer is becoming a friend. I do a few different styles, some more realistic type works and also cartoons. I’ve done graphic designs for people and businesses as freelancing art jobs, I like it all. Also, I enjoy writing/illustrating not only children’s books for kids but ones that are kind of like children’s books for adults. Not sure how to better describe the latter than to just say the humor is for an older crowd…and who doesn’t love a good picture book?!?!

Laughing is the only thing that I think has gotten me to where I am today. I’m the one who laughs at the most inappropriate times and makes jokes about things that other people might think isn’t so funny. It’s not at all that I am showing a lack of respect, it’s that I’ve discovered that often times in life you can either laugh or break down and cry…I choose the first option. That being said, because I dish it out, I make myself an open target too!

My Sis and Dad!

My family is amazing! I’m in awe of my two youngest siblings, they are people that I not only adore but wish I could be more like myself! My sister stole not only all of the good looking and style genes but she’s also far cooler than I could ever try to be. My littlest bro is the baby of the bunch, but he’s going to be the tallest and he has all the coordination that I lack. There is a reason the only sport I was ever somewhat decent at was running, you can’t really screw up running in a circle, can you? He’s into everything and does some pretty insane tricks on his skateboard and scooter. Again, I wish I was that cool and fearless! And of course I’ve got the moms and pops. I call my mom Mommy-O, I already established I’m a dork, and she was the one who got me into running. She’s always been fit and made working out a priority while I was growing up and set a great example. She also loves to EAT so working out gives her liberty to indulge. My dad is an AMAZING person. He came into my life when I was about five and trust me, I think if he knew the whole sack of crazy he was jumping into the smart thing to do would have been to run for the hills, but he didn’t. I like to think that’s because he chose too, not just because by the time he found out what he was in, he was in just too deep to get out…like quicksand. :)

My Bro…and they’ve also got a full on Boston Terrier Factory going on down there! :)

I also have an obsession with Pop-Tarts, ALL things Disney, Seinfeld, Chipotle, and people watching. Wow, I also have a tendency to run off at the mouth/fingers. I write the way i talk…a mile a minute. I’ve left phone messages for my friends and they call back saying, “You we I saying a ton of stuff, but I had no clue what it was, I couldn’t make it out.” I do need to work on slowing down sometimes, but I’ll get there one day…maybe. I hope you enjoy my ramblings, I hope that at times I can entertain you, make you crack a smile, and maybe even laugh.

    Cait,

I just love your story and admire your fight! I am a mom of three kiddos; a 12 year old son and twin girls 9 years old, they are my life. I am a lifelong runner and want to continue to run up into my 90′s…well, we’ll see, ha!

My son just took 13th place in the 3000m at the JO in New Orleans and my daughters are amazing swimmers and one is an amazing runner too. Just like your parents, I try to instill a strong work ethic when it comes to anything, even keeping fit.

I have always been drivin when it comes to running, and like to say one of my biggest accomplishments was when I was a state champion in the 400m as a senior in HS. I wish I could be that fast again. I hate getting older, but I am fighting it by staying in shape and running, even though some days my joints ache and I feel like I’m carrying around 10 lb weights around my legs. But reading your story inspired me and lifted me. You must be proud of yourself for all that you have accomplished!

I only wish you the very best Cait. Good things are going to continue happening for you!

      Kelly,

Thank you so much for your very kind words and encouragement! You deserve just as much admiration yourself, trust me it’s not easy being a runner mom…though it certainly makes you MUCH cooler. ;) I plan on being a geriatric runner too…so when the time comes I’ll race you to the walker…haha.

Congrats to your son at the JO’s and your daughters too for being drawn to becoming strong, athletic girls…it will take them far in their sport of choice and life too.

Way to go on those 400 meter accolades…you have all the speed i’ve never possed…not a single fast twitch muscle fiber in this body! Regardless of speed or not, keep it up because there are few things that compare to the nice rush of a great run. ;)

Best to you too and best of luck to your kids! :)

  2. Hey just wanted to give you a brief heads up and let you know a few of the images aren’t loading correctly. I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue. I’ve tried it in two different internet browsers and both show the same results.

  3. GIRL, we know you!!!! As soon as I pulled up your site, I knew it had to be you (How many other amazing running Caitlin Chocks are there?) And then I saw your pic and well… you prolly don’t remember us and our last names are different now… but Jessica or Cecily Lemmon from Vacaville? You probably ran more with Cec, because I’m older. Anyway… I’m so glad you found us, so that we could come find you… we always thought you were so crazy fast!!! I can’t wait to tell Cec!

(Sorry if this comment just makes me look insane and stalkerish… and it’s totally cool if you have no idea who we are… just know you’re so cool that we know who you are! :) )

    • Hi Cait! I’m Jessica’s sister, Cecily, and yeah, we totally remember you from high school! I remember your racing braids, and I remember when you chopped it short. My Junior year I finished 2nd to you at, I don’t know sub sections or sections and I remember thinking that was the coolest thing ever. Of course, your were WAY ahead of me :) So glad to know about your blog now!

You are an amazing runner and I can’t wait to read more!

      • oh hush u, umm….i’m in awe of YOU!! i’m so happy to reconnect; u were always one of the sweetest girls ever and i felt lucky that we got to race/see each other really often during HS. i hope this doesn’t sound creeperish, but whenever i would scan college results and i’d see ur name it always made me smile…i was rooting for ya from afar. :)
PS-oh man, u remember the short hair, not a good move. i have way too crazy hair that poofs up like crazy when it’s short and my flyaways get out of CONTROL!! lol

    • HOLY COW!!! ya, the last names totally threw me but trust me i’m kicking myself in the BUTT for not just recognizing u two anyways!! duh, i mean i feel like an idiot, so thank u for putting two and two together must faster and grant me an ‘idiot’s pardon’…lol. but anyways, please don’t even worry about a ‘stalker’ disclaimer, i’m sure i prolly creep way too many people out and i should be giving the disclaimer to u. :) i’m so happy we can reconnect and it’s soooo cool to see how amazing you two are doing and i’m excited to bloggie stalk u. :) (refer to disclaimer. hehe)
