Great post. I think the reason a lot of people start running or working out is because they see results from people around them. But they end up quitting because they didn’t realize all the hard work that goes into getting those results.
hahaha…yea, the best is on a hard workout day and u think, “okay, i’ll just start my warm-up, i don’t REALLY have to do the workout if i don’t want to.” 😛
I love this post! It is so helpful as I’ve been struggling with motivation this month. The lies are so necessary to get through workouts and runs! My coach used to tell our team, towards the end of a workout, that we only had X number of minutes left, you can do anything for X number of minutes. It always helped for some reason!
Oh – I love the link to the article about running a business. As a new (4 months now) business owner, I have struggled a lot this fall. I never really thought about it in comparison to running – I should because I feel like I’m a decent runner so maybe I can be a semi-decent business owner!!
your welcome! okay, side-tangent here…I actually do the writing for the Sacramento Entrepreneurship Academy’s website, and while it’s a bit of a bummer you aren’t local and could come to the events and speakers, they’re an amazing resource for new business owners. actually, i’m working with them to possibly offer some classes online for biz owners that aren’t local…anyways, on the biz side, if u’re at all interested in a resource like that, send me an email.
No test from running today, because it was a cross training day 🙂 But running certainly tested me yesterday on the trails, in the mountains, in the snow. That was tough stuff! Luckily I didn’t break anything.

wait, u mean i can’t just get a six-pack by strapping on the Ab-zapper while watching TV?? 😉
You are right, we do lie to ourselves! And we’re so good at it. 🙂 If I tell myself I’m going out for a 5 mile run, it always turns into 7!

Yep no matter how sucky life gets escaping into a run is bliss. Thank goodness for running.
Counting down till I’m back in therapy!
If only the world was run by runners – such a special breed and I’m not bias at all 🙂
