  1. I. ADORE. JACK. DANIELS. I use his charts to do pace calculations for myself, and my runners. This tool is very handy. Thanks!

Also very interesting for a runner who just moved to the tropics. Guess my PRs are gonna be taking a hit…or else I’ll be really fast, if I go find somewhere cool to race. =)

Right now, I coach myself. I didn’t used to understand why a coach would hire a coach. Now I know! It’s much easier to look at things objectively when you aren’t looking at your own numbers. So I have my husband, who asks, “What would you suggest for one of your runners?” whenever I’m stuck. Maybe one day I’ll go the coach route, but for now…it’s me, myself, I. (And maybe a little Jack. The book.)

    • haha…i love the last bit there, i could see it turning into a phrase, “it’s me, myself, and a bit of Jack”…lol. tho we’d have to explain we’re runner’s and not a bunch of alchy’s. πŸ˜›

that said, just think of how much faster u’ll be when u run/race NOT handicapped by tropic weather. πŸ™‚

  2. This winter in Northern MI has taught me to never ever expect it to be the conditions you think you see out your window. I just plan for the worst and hope for the best. :). I do t have a coach, I just research plans online and figure what will work best for me. I did my first half marathon training using a plan to just get to the distance no matter what the pace. This time around I am concentrating more on paces and doing tempo and speed work. Hoping to shave some time off from last one.

  3. 1. When the elements become a factor, I just tell myself..”imagine what you could have done if there wasnt any wind.” or “Lookw hat I did.. and with 35 mph winds!!”
    2. I use Jack Daniels, for my runners and myself.
    3. I train myself. I use a little bit of information I have obtained over the years. I mix all my favorite parts together.

  4. I am TERRIBLE at factoring in the elements. I get so down if I have a ‘slow’ time. I figure I should be able to overcome humidity and headwinds. Like superwoman.

I use MacMillan, but I’m open to anything! ANd while I don’t have the moulah for a coach, I have you, and Jenelle, and my father, and several PTs, and a whole heap of readers, so I feel pretty lucky!
