  1. This was such a fun post!!
I do not have any pre-race superstitions or good luck charms (other than my hot pink power balance bracelet)…but I do become a bit obsessive about the mileage on my training-plan, but I’m learning to look at it as just a PLAN and nothing written in stone 🙂
    xoxo!

    • okay, i want a hot pink power bracelet!! 🙂 oh, and yes…getting comfy with flexibility in ur training is tough…buuuut u’ll do so much better with it! 😉

  2. Man, we are a WEIRD group of people!! 😛 It’s true, most of us are a liiiil OCD and that’s a good thing – I know if I wasn’t, then I wouldn’t be as consistent in my training at all. I don’t really have any superstitions per se, but I only like to eat certain things before races…I do go out of my way to find Olive Gardens haha. I guess on the one hand I know what works for me, but on the other…there’s probably a lot that could work with me so I should experiment more (during training)!

    • ya, i think OCD helps us to get the training in…we just have to be careful to not cross the line and let it hurt us…hehe. 😉 oh, my sis loves Olive Garden too. 🙂 i’m more a chipotle girl…lol

  3. I am way too set in my routine. For years I was doing virtually the exact same morning workout almost every single day. Biking has been great because I have been kinda forced to mix things up with group rides.

  4. Ha, I could probably use a little more routine. I’m much more on the fly than OCD, though I do think my pink shoelaces make me perform better at anything 🙂

  5. The night before a race I lay out all of my gear so there’s like a 2D version of me on the floor by the bed. I can’t go to sleep if everything isn’t laid out just right! I also listen to the same song before I cross the start line, no matter what. It always reminds me that the victory is in starting the race, not just finishing it 🙂

    • oh my gosh!! i do that not just for races, but really every day…lol. naw, i lay out my workout clothes the night before because i’m so lazy i like to be able to roll right out of bed, into them, and get going so that i can sleep as much as i possibly can!! 😛

  6. I think I might be little Type “B” on this than Type “A.” I have a routine so to speak, but really just go with the flow. 🙂 Each race is different and I am okay with that. I do like to buy Smartwater to enjoy before and after and I always use GU as my supplements– this is just because I know they do not bother my ridiculously sensitive stomach.

    • i do meet a type B every now and again, and u guys rock too!! actually, u balance all us crazy obsessed people out, and some of the best athletes are more like u…they are better able to listen to their body and actually BE flexible…haha! 🙂
