  1. omg. this is awesome. first. it made me think of when they made us run the mile in grade school and i literally hated it. was like cursing the pe teacher the entire way and then would go home crying to my mom at the awful torture they put us through!!! haha! Now I would say 4-5 is a good short run for me. In the beginning of this year it was 6-7…then I realized that maybe I needed a little more variation before my body just quit on me. ha. Favorite song right now is give me everything tonight. love it. it came on in the last mile of my marathon so it will forever be in my heart. hahaha.

oh. and i really am glad that you put those distances up there. sometimes i really do have to look them up…me and metric (or tracks) = not so friendly. ha!

    have an awesome day!

  2. I remember doing a times mile in the 6th grade and then I puked when I was done. But I still remember I did it in 7 minutes and 10 seconds. I though it was so far to run of course I had to puke.

Now that measly little mile is just a warmup 🙂

  3. haha…julia, i totally remember cursing those pe teachers too! funny how back then running was akin to torture and now we dread anything that might get in the way of us clocking those miles! 🙂 that's an awesome song and they say music is one of those things that is SO closely tied to memories and hearing certain songs instantly takes you back…so true.

christy…way to be a beast back in 6th grade…u would schooled my sorry butt! 🙂

have a great day you two!

  4. Oh gosh I hated the mile back in school!!! It was like serious torture! Whoda' thunk 3-5 miles would be considered "easy" runs for me!!

  5. haha…i know right?! my how times have changed…hey, but it gives us even more excuse to enter choc-cupcake overlaod. 😉

  6. The first time I hopped onto the treadmill and ran for 5 minutes I thought I had done something magnificent (I wasn't even in primary school, I had just started studying exercise physiology at university and had never run before in my life).
On Sunday, I am running my first half marathon so those 5 minutes were the start of something addictive:)
My favourite running song would have to be either California Girls by Katy Perry, or I Wanna Be Your Underwear by Bryan Adams (please, no judgment on my obviously daggy music choices).
Love these speed workouts by the way. They will come in handy for the three 10ks coming up in August.

  7. GOOD LUCK this sunday!! u'll kick major booty! 🙂

    i luv katy perry's song too…and don't worry i won't judge u for that bryan adams one. 😉

glad the workout ideas help too! once again good luck girl!
