Patience is a virtue and I try to nurture it, but sometimes I am convinced that if I only push myself to run a little longer, a little faster, to get a run in every single day of the week that I am going to be better and stronger in a shorter amount of time. The best thing for me is to make a plan and track all my workouts so that I know what I am doing, oh and I love those plans from Runners World and the like that give me specific goals to work towards. One thing I am definitely not patient with is cross-training. I hate the elliptical and I haven’t found a local spin class to go to. Perhaps that should be my next goal? Work on cross-training 🙂
I love your cartoon at the top too Cait 🙂 So true!
Also, your Ezzere message about advertising women runners in their dresses and such was fantastic! Loved it 🙂
okay talk about great minds think alike!! haha…i’m actually working on a piece all about how to embrace and love your cross trainer! i’ll keep you posted when that one gets published. 🙂
oh and you’re just the sweetest, i’m so glad you loved that little barb at Tom Tom…haha!! but why do you think i’m not surprised you would totally be in the same line of thought as me. 🙂
Sometimes when I’m following a long training plan I can get a bit burned out and I just want race day to be here tomorrow. But then I remember the whole point of the long training plan is to prepare for the race and that if the race really was tomorrow I’d be screwed. Running, and especially training for a goal race, take a lot of patience!
I’m rarely patient in any area but running is one place I’ve had to make changes – too many injuries that threatened to end my running altogether have gone a long way in helping me learn patience with running!
