You know, I’ve hardly ever run on a track. There isn’t one near me and it’s not something I’ve had much experience with. You may be convincing me I should seek one out, at least to try!
“if u build it they will come.” hahaha…totally kidding but for some reason that quote popped to mind! 😛 no, no need to build one, but i do hope u find one! 🙂
In college (and pre-Garmin days) I loved running in circles around the track because I could know the distance of my runs! Honestly, the nearest track is 45 minutes away from me and I’m just not that motivated. But I would definitely like to sneak in a few workouts when I can!
i like the idea of doing my steady run and then finishing with the last mile on the track. i feel like that would be a good introduction and transition into no longer fearing the track because its something I already do in many of my runs…trying to finish strong! i may try it after this bout of recovery running:) thanks for your kind comment! i seriously respect your opinion so much and also always look forward to your posts because I learn a lot and feel like you write in a way its easy for me to relate to and apply! hope you are having a great day!
ur comment made my day! thank u so much, and i’m glad my comments/blabberings resonate with u and u feel are helpful. it’s a two way street, julia, know that! 🙂
The whole speed thing and tempo runs are slowly becoming part of my routine. I don’t hats them but we are not best friends yet either.
And I just have to add I LOVE all the pictures in your posts!
Great tips! Most I have done. One thing great about the track is, on a super duper windy day where you don’t want to worry about 4 miles with the wind and 4 against, the direction changes every 200 meters, evening things out nicely.
Favorite is the simple mile intervals. Always loved the mile. I used to do yasso 800s as well.
thanks, and i know u seasoned runners prolly already know/use these tidbits, so sorry if it wasn’t able to give u any new ideas…i’ll have to kick it up a notch, eh?? 😉 oh yea, the wind, there were tempo runs that were comical if u looked at the 200 splits, overall the pace worked out right but for half u were flying and the rest u felt like u were dragging bricks! oh, and i love me my milers too. 🙂
