About

Cait Chock is a comedian, writer, host, and also neurotic.

Residing in LA, she’s studied at the prestigious Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre and performs improv and sketch at UCB and various theaters across this fine city. She hosts and produces the podcast, I’m a Disaster, and is shopping around those scripted series.

WORD ON THE STREET

Her character work has been described as “strong and specific” and she’s “a performer who makes bold moves and ready to walk in to help clarify a game.” Her sketch teacher said she, “wrote some of the tightest, funniest sketches in the class.”

After performing as two characters in a sketch she wrote, she was awarded the: “Loaded Personality Explosion” recognition.

She won’t brag, but she’s been called very funny and very nice.

Also she won’t brag, but she really doesn’t need a mic on stage.

Rule of threes…also also she won’t brag, but she really love poop jokes.

WHY COMEDY?
(in Cait’s own words)

Moving to LA to pursue comedy was my ‘do-over’ after losing everything. Most of my life was focused on running and, after setting the then High School National Record for Track and Field in the 5,000m event, I went on to run professionally for Nike. I was out for a run one day and got struck by a hit and run driver. I almost lost my leg and the doctors told me I would never walk normally, or run, again.

Humor is what got me through the trauma, heartache, and loss of my career and first passion. The accident forced me to seek out something that could give me a sense of purpose (and adrenaline rush) akin to racing. I found that the day I took my first improv class and fell head over ass in love with comedy.

I channeled all of my determination and drive that made me a record setting distance runner, and applied it to performing and writing. I love being told I’m not good enough (the sentiment that fuels LA!!) and working my @$$ off to prove people wrong. Oh, because, I did prove all the doctors that said I would never run or walk again wrong. I can run! Albeit, slowly…but enough to be able to eat lots of cookies.

I write obsessively; like my life depends on it. Because, it kind of does. I need to prove that the horrible accident that stole, what felt like at the time, everything, happened for a reason. Comedy saved my life.

THE PODCAST

Cait is not shy in saying she has a buffet platter of anxieties and mental quirks. A history of depression, OCD, and ADD, she wanted to continue to bring light to these subjects and break down the stigmas around mental health. WE ALL DEAL WITH SHIT! So was born the I’m a Disaster podcast which she hosts and produces. She, and a bunch of cool guests, open up about tough moments in their lives, how they survived, mental hang-ups…and basically all the weird shit that goes through our brains.
