As a runner I will officially say, “Forget the Super Bowl, all the action went down today!” There, I said it, and I’ll stand firm too…bring on the football, body-painted masses! 😉
Track nerds will already know that there is a new USA High School Record for the girls’ 2-mile…wait for it…9:38.68 Insane? Yes. Mary Cain just busted that record…all ye men and boys hold your manhood tight, because it’s quite possible a high school (junior) girl could kick your butt.
That was hardly the only action; the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix was promising a big showing in the men’s 3k and mile, and there was USA Cross-Country Championships too. Awesome coverage for you is to be found over at Paul Merca’s Blog for XC and FloTrack’s got tons of Boston related news.
Though, because it’s just too hard to resist, the question remains. Which men are left standing? Do your PR’s best Miss Mary’s Cain’s? Now THAT’S some serious chicking. 😉

I like cartoons…HERE are more!
HERE are some tips to make sure your own races don’t suck.
——-
1) Who raced this weekend?
2) Who was a total track and XC nerd and gobbled up the coverage?
3) Do the math…how far could you run 9:38 2-mile pace for?
I don’t like math. 😛
oh MY goodness. I just spent some time trying to imagine a girl running 2 miles in that time. insaaaaaaaaaane. how talented is that?!!
No racing this weekend, I wish I was! 🙁
I was just thinking what mph I’d have to go up to on the treadmill to get that pace…I think I’d fly off! That is crazy awesome.
i know, right! don’t worry, both u and i would be treadmill chow! 😉
That girl has some serious talent!!! I’m sure we will see a lot more of her! She is beyond fast!
can’t wait to see her tear it up more!
Wow! I’ve got nothing. Except awe. I have lots of that.
haha…ya, u sum my thoughts up!
I don’t really follow any sports. Not even ones I paeticipate in. I did 5 by the 5th. Now I’m sooooo tired! And I didn’t even run as fast as Mary.
haha…ya, running is the only sport i follow. 😛
I had a 4 mile race in the freezing cold!! It turned out to be much better than I thought it would, so that is always a plus!
YES!!! way to go…always love it when the legs surprise u with a fantastic run!
That girl will go far! (and quickly too by the looks of it) Chicking power all the way!
We don’t get any coverage of these events here in Australia, or any of our own really, so I didn’t get to watch any. I did go to the gym with my significant other for the first time on Saturday 🙂 It was great having a new gym buddy and it turns out our workout goals are completely different (as Chris say: Amy runs far and I lift the heavy things) but our schedules work well together. Nothing better than having someone to go to the gym with who also buys you ice cream and rubs your feet after a long run. I am a very lucky chickpea Miss Cait 🙂
My best racing tips? Get everything ready the day beforehand and have an amazing support crew (just like my Mama and my beautiful Miss Cait).
sorry, i need to go all girlie and give a shout-out to ‘significant other’…woot woot!! 😉
well, he can be the muscle and u can be the awestatic miles-obsessed runnerchick. hehe. and ya, already has my stamp of approval with the ice cream AND foot rubs??!?! say what?!?! 🙂
WOW! That is impressive. I tried to do the maths but by the time I worked out what it was for each mile and started to convert to metric that girl had already ran another 2 miles! So awesome… so much promise!
No racing but I did a virtual run yesterday which incidentally I ran in Miles… still a very tricky thing for me :S
way to go on the virtual run…i need to get into those. haha, and i LOVE that us crazy miles/US’ers are rubbing off on u. hehe 😛
She is super fast… I mean, I’m not slow but she would’ve lapped me several times… in that time I can run about 5 laps of a track :). I liked watching the interviews too, it was clear she ran her own race and didn’t get caught up in the competition, more like just doing what she needed to do.
don’t worry, i think about most of us woulda been lapped. 😉
